Arkki in collaboration with the Architecture Information Center is organizing the Creating the Future III – International Conference on Architecture Education from 10 to 11 November 2019 in Annantalo, Helsinki and Bio Rex.
The themes of the conference are: the importance of the built environment in education, participatory design, sustainable architecture and learning through play.
The keynote speaker at the conference is brain researcher and Professor Minna Huotilainen from the University of Helsinki. International experts will present their best projects, methods, games and educational materials. Conference participants will also have access to a variety of pedagogical approaches, including through participatory workshops. The event will gather the most internationally renowned experts in architecture education for children and youth. The program has speakers from 16 different countries, and a few delegations of experts have confirmed their participation. The Creating the Future conference in 2009 and 2013 attracted widespread interest and the third seminar has been long-awaited.
The conference 10-11.11. is organized in conjunction with the Finnish Presidency program, the European Conference on Architecture Policy. The total target is 250 daily international and domestic visitors. Participants will have the opportunity to attend both events.
The conference is part of the Arkki’s 25th Anniversary. Established in 1993, Arkki School of Architecture for Children and Youth celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2019. Today, Arkki offers architecture and design education in 15 cities in 7 countries.
